Product Preach – Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks. SEND NUDES (Collection)

Beauty

I have a strange relationship with lipsticks. They are the thing I collect the most and probably wear the least. In both my fashion style as well as the makeup I wear, one thing that is always pretty much top of my priorities is comfort!  This obsession with my lips still feeling moisturised and effortlessly bare means that I do spend the majority of my existence in Vaseline, Carmex and Nivea Lip butter. Despite owning a full drawer of lip glosses, sticks, paints and stains – you name it, I probably have it, and don’t wear it. That unhealthy ‘buy but rarely wear’ relationship changed drastically when I discovered Jeffree Star and his glorious matte liquid lips.

Product Preach – Dove Self Tanning Body Lotion.

Beauty

Winter is coming, (and yes I will be continuing to use that Game Of Thrones pun until it is dead and buried.) and with that comes the palest of pale. Some people won’t understand the true struggle of the pale person on this end of the year; I can quite literally become transparent, there is no foundation light enough, on no-makeup days I’m constantly asked if I’m ill, and I quite simply feel a tad awful. I’m by no means calling out all pale people, a lot of ‘paley’s’ look absolutely fab; there are just some days for me where I don’t feel good in my pale skin – and that’s when this product comes in handy.

3 Skincare Faves You Need In Your Life.

Beauty

There was a pretty damn wonderful offer on the Boots website the other week which easily reeled me in as the bargain hunter I am – thanks a lot Tim Wonnacott. 3 For 2 on all skincare really got me excited and you bet I spent well over an hour narrowing down my choices to a cost savvy three I am now extremely chuffed with. An eye cream to hopefully delay my wrinkly bags (is that a euphamisim??), a Body Shop tea tree facial wash dupe and a forgotten world class moisturiser.

Product Preach – YSL Black Opium Perfume.

Beauty

I don’t know about you, but I love to smell of smelly things (the good kind, obviously.). I can see myself 10 years in the future with a grand 30+ collection of smellies, and I will have no regrets about the fact. I have already accumulated a small collection of perfumes, ranging in price from £3.50 (for 50ml) to this one I am preaching about today at £58 – Yves Saint Laurent’s Black Opium.

Product Preach – SophDoesNails X Makeup Revolution Collaboration.

Beauty

Hello lovely people! I hope you are all doing well! Although I am ridiculously invested in the world of YouTube, I’m not one to physically invest in every single collaboration within the web. I often find them over priced, over hyped and corporate feeling, with a clear lack of personality and effort. However, obviously (from the fact I bought both elements!) I saw a clear difference within the SOPH X MAKEUP REVOLUTION collab, and I will tell you for why in this very post.

Product Preach – Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour.

Beauty

My Product Preach series has been my longest standing blog ‘format’ to date. Before my Blog-a-break, I used to bash one of these bad boys out once a week without fail! I would like to return to that, as these were such an easy, enjoyable format; which if I remember, you all used to enjoy too! Well, lets start this ball rolling again shall we? First, with a lip product which is my new ‘go-to’; and that really means something in my book, because I have a shed full (metaphorically) of lip sh**. I was so surprisingly blown away by none other than the Rimmel Stay Matte liquid lip colours.

Product Preach: Barry M Matte Nail Paint in Vanilla and Mocha.

Beauty

Top of the mornin’ (or afternoon at this point) to ya! It’s that time of the week where I pop in, taking a break from the hell on earth which is school work and revision, and escape into the world of Just Jolie. Nothing else, no no – Just Jolie. I was in Tesco with the mother, when we found ourselves, as always, browsing the beauty section. We tend to be a duo which shares such items as nail varnish, and we decided our collection was lacking some more neutral shades. We found the highly attractive price that Barry M has to offer, and already being a huge fan of their formula, I could not resist these very stylish matte shades; I’m so pleased!

Barry M are so very well thought of when it comes to their nail varnishes. They are my absolute favourite brand as their colour variety, price to quality ratio, durability (non-chipable-ness) and overall look is just sky high above most others. These varnishes were my first experience with a matte finish, and boy, am I impressed! I apologise as I feel that the pictures may not quite do justice to how utterly ‘bad ass’ (excuse my french) my nails looked. But the matte nail is something I have drooled over on Instagram and Pinterest for what feels like forever, and when the reality looks as good and if not better, well that’s a darn good feeling.

IMG_0947

I should also put out there that I am disappointed in myself for biting my nails off the day before this shoot, you have zero will power Jolie, sort yourself out. Regardless, the colour and unique look made my short nails look the best they possibly could in my opinion, and they clung on to my nails for days on end. I can confidently say I didn’t see a single chip in three whole days of wear, which is like a year for someone whose normally comes off in the first three minutes!

IMG_0950

Onto colours, Vanilla (the muted grey with a very subtle hint of lilac) is extremely true to the bottle, and one that I would highly recommend for the summer, as it is the type of colour to truly pop a tan. It’s a really lovely colour to add to a collection as it is nothing like I have at home already, and the matte element just adds another layer of “I NEED THIS”. Mocha (the warm brown) is definitely a lot darker on the nail than in the bottle. I’d say it comes out it’s most true in the picture below, it’s a very delicious warm shade that reminds me of hot chocolate…Which I realise is odd. It’s slightly more daring, and initially I wasn’t sure about it, however it earned a compliment from my boyfriend, who has never noticed my nails before, so if brown is out of your comfort zone give it a try – maybe it will work for you too!

Overall I can tell you that I will 1000% be buying more from this range, I have my eye on the teal green called Cancun, which looks beautiful. So I would really hope you all go and have a browse around the Barry M counter next time you are passing, I guarantee they will have a colour perfect for you. There is also a 3 for 2 deal at Boots on all Barry M items, so check that out pronto!

Enjoy your week!

First Impressions: Two Of The Most Raved-About Drugstore Products Out There.

Beauty

G’day mates! If you can’t tell, yes, I am running out of greetings. I’m hitting you today with a short and sweet post on my first impressions of two products I have heard about none stop in the youtube and blogosphere, and finally gave in to trying. Yes, they’re right there in the photo, but just to entertain your curiosity they would be the Maybelline Anti-Age Eye Eraser and the Maybelline Fit Me foundation.

IMG_0942

Maybelline Anti-Age Eye Eraser – My first thoughts of a product I had come to know so well without even owning it (through the countless youtube makeup tutorials I watch, you know.), was that the packaging and application process is so surprisingly amazing. As an observer, the thought of twisting a product and applying with the same round sponge seems messy, unhygienic and plain wrong – I couldn’t be more incorrect. The process is smooth and allows you to apply and distribute an even amount around problem areas, or areas to highlight.

However, this is where I need the help of you, yes you! Now, I bought Light, thinking that this was the shade which everyone uses to make their eye bags look like sunbeams of glow, but this was simply not the case. Is there a highlighter version of this product which I have missed? Did I get the wrong shade? Any help in the comments would be greatly appreciated.

Maybelline Fit Me foundation – This foundation has actually bowled me over. It is very silky and dewy and definitely the perfect consistency for the coming Summer months, as it is a very light consistency so should avoid that heavy sweaty feeling we all dread when the sun rears it’s hot head. I must admit it is not the best for covering blemishes and spots, as it is fairly light coverage, however, when pairing it with a good concealer, this is not a problem at all. I see a good future with this foundation, and would definitely recommend you giving it a fair try!

Let me know if you liked these mini reviews of my new purchases, I always get so excited buying new things and trying them out, so I may make this a wee little segment! Enjoy your week, I have my driving test tomorrow – wish me luck!

Product preach: Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser.

Beauty

Remember me? If you’ve forgotten, my name is Jolie (just Jolie, what up.) and life has quite simply gotten on top of me as of late. I really do apologise for the inconsistent uploading that has been occurring, but I am going to get on top of that in the next few weeks and get at least a post a week up for you all. So are we good? Can I get on? Great, thanks lads.

We are getting back into the swing with my favourite skin care discovery of the recent present (..?). It is a moisturiser that will knock your little socks off , and if you’re not wearing socks, well it will give you’re ankles a swift kick. (Yes, it’s that good.) As the title points out, it is the wonderful Clinique Moisture Surge moisturiser!

Screen Shot 2016-03-14 at 17.24.01

I have grown up with Clinique products. Not using them myself obviously, (we weren’t made of money – jeepers) but as my mothers brand of choice, it holds a special place in my wee heart. There is a clean fresh smell to everything Clinique, which always makes me feel confident it is doing me good. This product is no exception, and the refreshing feel extends from the smell to the product itself – prepare to be smacked around the chops by moist-ness, in the best way possible.

This lovely, pastel pink tub of pure good-ness reads: “moisture surge – extended thirst relief”, I haven’t read something so true in a long time. It is quite literally like having a bucket of cold water poured on your face on a baking hot day – call it the most satisfying metaphorical ice bucket challenge (blast from the past eh?) ever. Despite it’s immense hydrating abilities, it isn’t very oily at all, so is definitely appropriate for most, if not all, skin types. As well as a moisturising wonder, I also found it to be a great base for makeup for when you frankly can’t be arsed with primer; it leaves your skin silky smooth.

It is £25, there’s no getting away from that. I got my adorable sample size for christmas in a wash bag so I cannot confess that I have spent that, but I can tell you now I would be willing to part with that dollar to keep this creamy god in my life. I bet you £25 you will not be disappointed!
