OOTD – Brown Bits.

Fashion, OOTD

Hello there everybody! Another day, another outfit. This one is one which I wore on my boyfriend and I’s 2 year anniversary; how time flies! Anyway, I’m not going to lie to you, I felt quite ‘fly’ and so I simply had to show you. Can you tell that I really do struggle with what to name each OOTD? I’m being completely and utterly genuinely when I state that ‘BROWN BITS’ is the best I could come up with. Let’s swiftly move past that and get into the outfit…

My Current Shoe Staples.

Shoes. Everyone loves shoes! Right? Wrong. I used to hate shoes, or rather could never afford nice shoes. I was the girl who had 3 pairs of white, grey and black Primark plimsoles and that was me for two years. However, thankfully as I have grown older I have slowly accumulated a rather nice ‘capsule’ collection of shoes I can pull out for any occasion. Of course, I haven’t included my few pairs of heels and such because frankly, I very rarely wear them! These are the shoes I get cracking use out of, hopefully it gives you a wee bit of shoe-spiration.

OOTD: Monochrome Snakeskin.

Fashion

Sometimes, the hardest part of writing a blog post is getting started; the greeting is always a tricky one to muster up. So today, that little sharing session is my greeting – also, hi! I have a humble little outfit of the day for you today; it was date night, and I felt cute and casual.

Monochrome is always a fail-safe outfit formula in my opinion, it always looks effortlessly stylish. It is such a simple outfit I’ve just added little hints of edge and interest to lift the look. The tassels on the bag, as well as the two chained necklace (two chainz),  break up the very plain top and bottom of the outfit; and the shoes, don’t even get me started on these shoes.

Tough, I’m getting started on these shoes, they are unbelievable! They possess comfort like I rarely experience elsewhere and the snakeskin is to die for. The grey tones within them marry up any monochrome outfit and I always get compliments when I wear them. They are actually the first pair of ‘patterned’ shoes I own, and I must say I’m a fan!

New Look Haul.

Fashion

Hiya friends! I am hitting you today with a wee haul from one of my absolute favourite high street stores – New Look. The price-quality ratio is truly amazing and I just adore the fashion which they provide. If I see something off the catwalk or a high end piece, I can look in New Look knowing they will have picked up the trend and I can find a cheaper dupe, still of a brilliant quality! I have been back at school for a short while but only recently got round to going shopping for that very occasion, so I picked up some sixth-form appropriate gear and thought I’d show you all.

In terms of clothes, I can’t recommend enough their wide range of flannel shirts. I have been looking for the perfect flannels, that wouldn’t break the bank, for such a long time. The obvious dream is Urban Outfitters; but I could find none under £40 each and I simple wasn’t willing to part with the cash. This red and electric blue plaid flannel I found in New Look is pretty much identical to one of which I have encountered in UO, but for half the price – I know which one I would go with! I can’t tell you how comfortable the material is with both shirts (material is consistent throughout the range of around 12 variations), with comfort and style ticked on all accounts, they are so versatile; I love them.

The other clothing purchase was a humble jumper, the chill is approaching and I decided it was time to start collecting the knits; New Look are truly brilliant for good, sturdy jumpers that look really quite expensive (we all know how pricey knitwear can be elsewhere), but for such a good price. I am in love with stripes and the whole Parisian style at the moment so when I saw this in the shop, I feel I may have resembled the heart eyes emoji, I knew it was coming home with me.

Now, shoes! I will continue to preach New Look’s quality and prices, and it is no different with foot wear; shoes which would be up to £60 elsewhere are a humble twenty in this fashionable wonderland. I bought two stylish pairs of trotters, suitable for both office wear and casual wear – I’m very excited to get much use out of them.

The first pair are my slight risk takers, as they are so very retro; I feel slightly like I stole them out of my mums collection, but in the best way. Grandma chic comes to mind, but I can safely say that I adore this penny loafer style that’s found it’s way back onto the fashion scene. The pointed toe is normally something I would avoid, despite having small feet I feel extremely self conscious of making my feet look bigger than they are. Never the less, I have found that they seem to elongate my legs, which I will take any day of the week.

The second pair are also a gem. A slipper type shape, another of my favourites, these are still quite casual despite the gold dealing, which adds interest and glam. I love the little tassels on the top and the zip going around the perimeter of the base, a lovely little touch. I have a slight stigma against a fully patent shoe, for some reason shine around the foot area puts me off shoes, but I do enjoy this naughty little toe, with a safe suede entirety to finish off the rest – the contrast makes me extremely happy.

And that, my friends, is what I bought in New Look, a lovely little collection if I do say so myself, and all things which I will get so much use out of.

If you are still reading, I didn’t feel comfortable showing you, but I just MUST preach about the glory that is New Look’s underwear section. They do bra’s with a longer body which would cost double the price in Victoria Secret, I may have bought a teal one (Kylie Jenner style) and I’ve never loved a bra so much in my life. Check them out – you will not be disappointed!

Coats.

Fashion, OOTD

The raspy chill of winter is lurking, and it’s that time of the year when nipping out to the shop in a t-shirt and leggings is out of the question – time to bring out those coats! I am a sucker for coats as they complete an outfit and are one thing I am happy to spend a bit more money on, as they’re a winter essential! Here are five types of coats, perfect for these finger numbing months when that extra layer is a must.

1. Biker Jacket – Miss Selfridge

I love this style of coat, even though I understand it’s not for everyone. Some may think it is quite a masculine shape but that is why I enjoy mixing it with more feminine under garments (under the coat, not underwear, naughty.) to make the outfit more balanced. We all need that coat that just makes the world a cozier place, and that is exactly what this is for me. The fur collar and thick lining make for a warm hug, type of experience whenever I put it on. This oversized look is very on trend right now and a style I’m in love with.

2. Boyfriend Jacket / Blazer – New Look

Grey is the new black this season (Although I still love my black) so when this jacket came on sale I just had to snap it up. Quick side note, if you ever have spare money in the Summer time, there are always some amazing deals on coats which would be three times the price in the Winter. For example, this coat was originally £30, I got it for £12 in the Summer sale; if that’s not a bargain I don’t know what is! It’s brilliant quality and even if I’d bought this for its original price, I’d be extremely happy.

3. Leather Jacket – New Look Vintage

Everyone deserves a real leather jacket in their lives. This was my big christmas present around two years ago and I have never gotten so much use out of a present in my life. I am on the side of ‘real leather is best’ when it comes to this argument as it is SUCH a durable material; it can literally last a life time and actually look better with age. Mine is an interesting, almost suede texture, it isn’t shiny like many other leather jackets from renowned shops like Topshop etc. However, I love that mine is original in this sense, as many leather jackets look exactly the same as one and other, which can be very a bit boring. Had I bought it myself I would have probably bought it bigger (My oversized mind takes over), but I’m so glad it is fitting as it is honestly so flattering in arm and body length. Just perfect.

4. Duster Coat – ASOS

Duster coats are the fresh new trend of this winter. They are bold and beautiful, but a daring style that can be difficult to pull off. I definitely wouldn’t recommend a duster coat if you’re just starting off a coat collection as they don’t go with all outfits due to differences in length. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something a bit different, the right outfit can look unbelievable. My friend received this for her birthday a week ago and I couldn’t not include it, it’s just too fabulous. The colour and style together look so elegant and regal, if you can’t tell, I love it.

5. Peter Pan Collar Jacket – Miss Selfridge

This is a lovely, innocent style which is snug around the neck so great for warmth. It’s a coat which actually looks good zipped up, which can’t be said for many other styles (e.g biker jacket is a no go.). This Peter Pan coat is also from Miss Selfridge as my biker jacket is as my friend and I bought them together. They had the most amazing range out last Winter, and when they both went on sale during mid November, we couldn’t believe our luck. They have followed the same format this year as there is currently a ‘Winter Wowzer’ on their website and in stores. It’s definitely worth looking for a deal, you never know what you’ll find!

I realise that none of these coats are waterproof or even have a hood, but they are all heart warminlgy cosy, and that is my top priority in the Winter time, despite how unpractical that can be!

Hope you enjoyed this small insight into all things warm!
