Clothing Haul. Can You Tell I’m Loving Red?

Fashion

Hello lovely people of the interweb! I hope you are all doing well and are feeling peckish for some across-the-screen-shopping! I must admit that I myself have been very naughty this month in the clothing department, buying absolutely everything that catches my eye for more than two seconds. This is good in a way as I am rediscovering my love of all things fashion, but I must say that my bank account ain’t too happy about it… Regardless, I’m happy so hey ho – lets see a few things I picked up shall we?

OOTD – Brown Bits.

Fashion, OOTD

Hello there everybody! Another day, another outfit. This one is one which I wore on my boyfriend and I’s 2 year anniversary; how time flies! Anyway, I’m not going to lie to you, I felt quite ‘fly’ and so I simply had to show you. Can you tell that I really do struggle with what to name each OOTD? I’m being completely and utterly genuinely when I state that ‘BROWN BITS’ is the best I could come up with. Let’s swiftly move past that and get into the outfit…

OOTD: Monochrome Snakeskin.

Fashion

Sometimes, the hardest part of writing a blog post is getting started; the greeting is always a tricky one to muster up. So today, that little sharing session is my greeting – also, hi! I have a humble little outfit of the day for you today; it was date night, and I felt cute and casual.

Monochrome is always a fail-safe outfit formula in my opinion, it always looks effortlessly stylish. It is such a simple outfit I’ve just added little hints of edge and interest to lift the look. The tassels on the bag, as well as the two chained necklace (two chainz),  break up the very plain top and bottom of the outfit; and the shoes, don’t even get me started on these shoes.

Tough, I’m getting started on these shoes, they are unbelievable! They possess comfort like I rarely experience elsewhere and the snakeskin is to die for. The grey tones within them marry up any monochrome outfit and I always get compliments when I wear them. They are actually the first pair of ‘patterned’ shoes I own, and I must say I’m a fan!

Product Preach: Topshop Glow Highlighter in Gleam.

Beauty

Well, fancy seeing you here?! While you’ve been kind enough to stop by I suppose it is only right for me to smack you round the face with a beauty recommendation that could make your summer a whole lot glowyer (is that a word.. Definitely not.) – The Glow highlighter in Gleam from Topshop.

I think it is fair to say that when Topshop first ventured into the world of makeup, we were all slightly sceptical. However, since its launch five years ago (What?! Is it just me or does it feel like yesterday?), its come on leaps and bounds and I must confess is up there with my favourite make up brands. They are a very on-trend brand – their nail varnish colour’s are plucked from the runway, their product’s themselves represent the seasons most anticipated looks; in this case being glow, glow glow.

I’ve not really been one for an extremely dewy finish in the past, but this summer I’ve found this highlighter and I have quite frankly been completely converted. The content looks quite daunting in the pot if you ask me, and the intense glitter pigment would normally have me running for the hills. But when I tried my friends, I feel like apologising for even feeling these pre-emptive negative thoughts. It is such a beautiful thing!

I apologise for the amateur selfie-style examples, I was caught off guard by how much I loved this highlighter, and to be honest, I was in a rush to get my party on. Hopefully you can see how my face has that extra healthy glow (lets see how many times I can say glow in this post hmm?) about it. It’s very subtle, but that is why I love it. To me, there’s nothing worse than a cakey smear of glitter running across the cheek bone, no thank you. This just naturally enhances the features and adds life to the face. If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, I don’t know what is appealing to you. Pizza? Me too.

Prom.

Fashion

It’s prom season! I attended mine last year, signifying the end of my compulsory education – hallelujah (little did I know sixth form would be just as stressful).
When I heard that prom was just around the corner for the year below mine, I felt both jealous and extremely reminiscent; in turn I decided to look back at my prom, to distract myself from ever-approaching exams.

My dress was from Topshop’s prom collection; they always have a beautiful selection so be sure to check it out this year. Mine was mint green/blue with beautiful grey roses – very grandma chic, but I absolutely loved it.

I was of a very small minority of people who wore a short dress at my prom, but I’ve never been big on long dresses and I wasn’t going to buy one just because everyone else did. I find short dresses are much more wearable after one occasion also, so are in turn better value for money. A short dress has the other obvious benefit that dancing, my favourite hobbie (joking but not really.), is much easier and while other girls struggled to hoist up their 10 metre trail, I could boogie (really?) as I pleased.

I absolutely LOVED prom. It was so soppy and cheesy and everyone loved everyone for one night. I have such fond memories and it made me really appreciate everyone in my year, I’m so happy I know each and every one.

If you’re prom is coming up I hope it goes well – mingle, dance, and get as many photo’s as possible, just because you can.

Small Topshop Haul.

Fashion

Due to some sad family news I received this week, this post is slightly lesser in content, but I hope you will take some pleasure in this small Topshop haul (if two items count as a haul!) I contrived in preparation for my trip to London this week!

IMG_0760

I have been lusting after some ripped skinny jeans for honestly over a year, but have either never found some I like or never been in the situation to buy them. (The classic situation of when you have money they don’t have your size, when you do – OUT OF STOCK.) These jeans are very typically ‘mainstream’, but I honestly don’t care – they are worth being mainstream for. I think I’d buy some more daringly ripped ones in the future, but these are a nice ease into the ‘holy’ life. With two simple slits at the knees they are a nice addition to an outfit without being so in your face that older generations feel frightened to approach a rebellious youth.

Topshop jeans are heaven on legs. They tuck in all the right places, especially the JONI high-waisted style, which makes my muffin top (we all have one…I hope) non existent. Expect these in many outfits to come as I see myself wearing them way too often! I understand it’s £38 which some people may say could be spent on two pairs elsewhere, but these jeans are in it for the long haul and once you’ve bought them once, they are yours for lifetime. I also had a Topshop voucher, which cushioned the blow of essentially paying forty quid for jeans that aren’t even denim.. Oh well I love them!

My second purchase was of a completely different nature to the first, this being totally spontaneous and a bit of a ‘why not?’ buy – but I’m so pleased I have them. They are basically Topshop’s dupes of Doc Martins and they are absolutely adorable. Sometimes I see real Docs and they look quite masculine, which I love, but sometimes I feel it’s too much. In this case, I’m not sure if the toe of the boots are slightly rounder, but whatever it is they make my feet look like an 8 yr old girl’s – and that’s kind of why I love them!

topshop dm collage

They were the definition of a bargain, at £20 down from £42 in the sale; there were quite a few pairs but the assistant said they were going quickly so if that price is appealing to you (it should be!), get yourself down to Topshop sharpish. I know that DM’s are really a Marmite kind of shoe (love them or hate them) but if you have even the slightest tendency in your body that favours them, why not try them out for £20, rather than bag the real deal for £90 just to realise you rarely wear them. #logic come one people. Sorry I didn’t feel up to the whole ‘blogger/model of jeans & boots’ photoshoot, but I’ll be doing just that in next weeks post, in London! Probably a much nicer setting anyway, compared to in front of my garage door.
