Jumper Weather Is Coming.

Fashion

It took me all of my might to not name this post ‘Winter Is Coming’, but then I realised that that metaphorical winter which includes white walkers, the night king, and undead dragons is already here. That simply isn’t the case in real life, Winter ain’t here yet, although you bet I wish I had me a real life Jon Snow. Anyway… That slightly off topic intro leads me in no related way onto the true focus of todays blog post – jumper weather is almost upon us, and I love me a jumper.

The Ultimate Autumn-Lovers Post.

Fashion

Autumn – My favourite time of year. Where we are surrounded by warm tones, my favourite spectrum of colour. Where the real world is in a constant state of ‘Instagram filtered-ness’. Where, in my opinion, everything looks more beautiful.

IMG_0073_Fotor

It’s wrapping-up weather; the knitwear comes out, the beanie’s put on, a cheeky scarf thrown in for good measure. The big over-sized coats rear their fabulous heads, a trend I love so dearly, allowing you to be as comfortable as you want while still oozing style. It is the season to layer, and in my eyes, there’s nothing better.

IMG_0041_Fotor

It’s the cosy season; the bitter chill of Winter is upon us, but Autumn lets you cherish the last fragment of heat and sun. The bonfires, the fireworks, the cups of your preferred hot beverage (I am still refusing the pumpkin spice latte craze..), all just fill you with that fuzzy feeling; it may be cold, but you feel warm in your heart.

IMG_0065_Fotor

Crunchy leaves, fluffy socks, cuddles (with your animal or human of choice), the warmth of your duvet on a cold morning, if these things don’t fill you with happiness, well, I’m afraid we can’t be friends.

IMG_0057_Fotor

And that is my preach for this week, not product based, but dedicated to my favourite time of year – hats off to Autumn….Why does this always happen when i try to take serious photos?

OOTD: Monochrome Snakeskin.

Fashion

Sometimes, the hardest part of writing a blog post is getting started; the greeting is always a tricky one to muster up. So today, that little sharing session is my greeting – also, hi! I have a humble little outfit of the day for you today; it was date night, and I felt cute and casual.

IMG_7589_Fotor_Fotor_Collage

Ribbed jumper – F&F / Leather Jacket – New Look Vintage / Necklace – Boohoo.com / Ripped skinny jeans – Topshop / Snakeskin shoes – H&M / Tassel bag – Boohoo.com

Monochrome is always a fail-safe outfit formula in my opinion, it always looks effortlessly stylish. It is such a simple outfit I’ve just added little hints of edge and interest to lift the look. The tassels on the bag, as well as the two chained necklace (two chainz),  break up the very plain top and bottom of the outfit; and the shoes, don’t even get me started on these shoes.

Tough, I’m getting started on these shoes, they are unbelievable! They possess comfort like I rarely experience elsewhere and the snakeskin is to die for. The grey tones within them marry up any monochrome outfit and I always get compliments when I wear them. They are actually the first pair of ‘patterned’ shoes I own, and I must say I’m a fan!

Do you like the monochrome style trend? Comment below!

Holiday Outfits.

Fashion

Hello my friends! No, I did not die, I am sorry if it looked that way. Blogging is a wonderful thing, and when I’m on it, I’m on it. But as with life, there’s highs and lows, and I have just been off my blogging game. I didn’t blog over my holiday, and then managed to develop a fear of my returning post, had I left it too long? Have people forgotten me? Do my readers even care?

Well, I’ve decided the only way to come back, is to come back and grovel. I’m sorry everyone, please forgive me, but Just Jolie is back and here to stay! Now on with the post and on with the good times!

It’s a very sad thought to think that this time last week, I was lounging by a pool in Bulgaria baking under the scorching sun; compared with today’s harsh reality of me sitting in my onesie sheltering in bed and writing this post. My point is that I went on holiday, and with holiday comes some lovely outfits, which I will be sharing with you, so carry on reading!

Quick side note: It may seem like my entire wardrobe is from Primark, but the truth is I just don’t feel a need to spend a lot of money on holiday clothes as I tend to cover up more in the UK, so don’t get much wear out of anything. Primark is the place to go and get a bargain, so my holiday wardrobe is mainly bought there!

IMG_7073_Fotor_Fotor_Fotor_Collage

Playsuit – Primark / Sandals – Next

This little playsuit caught my eye as I noticed the floaty overlay and thought it looked like a very flattering shape. The spaghetti straps also attracted me as in warmth as little material as possible is for the best. I could also go bra-less, which any girl will agree is a big bonus when it comes to the terror of putting a bra on to sunburnt skin – just ow.

IMG_7082_Fotor_Fotor_Collage

Swing Dress – Missguided / Sandals – Next

I absolutely love this swing dress, in fact I was a massive white dress fan this summer as a whole. They just look so beautiful yet so effortless, a combo any girl wouldn’t refuse. The sleeves are something a bit different, and they itch like a b****, but they made me feel like I had wings, so who’s the real winner here? You can tell I stuck to baggy/floaty things, as I literally can’t survive the warmth in anything remotely body con – just a tip.

IMG_7084_Fotor_Fotor_Collage

Jumpsuit – Primark / Flatform Sliders – Primark

This outfit may well have been my favourite. It was extremely simple, despite the complex pattern, this meant that I kept the outfit minimal to the max, and to great effect I would hope. My shoes were such good quality, for the humble price of £6 despite quality estimated price of (in my opinion) around £20; I’d heavily recommend Primark for cheap, trendy shoes.

IMG_7090_Fotor_Fotor_Collage

Dress – Primark / Flip Flops – Hollister

This dress is so simple, but i thought it was just worth mentioning due to the unbelievable fact that this dress was £2. Did you read that right? YES. £2. I know, it’s completely crazy, but these little gems are lurking all over the Primark floor, you just need to be willing to search for them.

And they, were some of my favourite outfits from my holiday! Comment below your favourite!

T In The Park 2015.

OOTD

Hello there friends! Pull up a chair, it’s story time. This time last week, I was having the time of my life at T In The Park music festival up in Scotland. Like any special occasion I partake in, I thought that it would be a lovely event to blog about – so here I am!

So on the Thursday my friends and I, a good thirty of us I may add, mounted ( I don’t like the word mounted… Mounted. No.) the bus and made our way up to Scotland. The suspense and excitement was immense, for the first hour. When the journey approached the five hour mark, in stand- still queues, it’s safe to say the festival novelty wore off towards the end. Never the less, we arrived, set up camp, and chilled, preparing our bodies for the brutal weekend ahead; by golly were we going to need it.

Friday

DAY ONE COLLAGE

Tassel Top – New Look / Shorts – DIY / Shirt – Next / Knee High Socks – Boohoo.com / Wellies – George

Featuring a wild Thomas; Friday was a chilly one, hence the tights, ruining the festival feel of my outfit. However, when it comes to festivals, for me it’s comfort over appearance any day of the week and this is a perfect example. I definitely wish we had held off on the pink facial mess that was created, until after this photoshoot; apparently it couldn’t be done, so apologies for that. This was possibly my favourite outfit of all as it was just so comfortable and the layering was fashionable and useful with the unpredictable weather. Friday was filled with good music, such as Fuse ODG, Hozier and Sam Smith; all personal faves of mine.

Saturday

DAY TWO COLLAGE

Kimono – New Look / Cropped Vest – Topshop / Shorts – New Look / Fanny Pack – Claires / Knee High Socks – Primark / Wellies – George

I am absolutely head over heels in love with these shorts, and for the bargain price of £14, who can say no. New Look sell a matching kimono with the same unbelievable boho print, which I shall have to purchase, but I love that you could wear each separately and they look equally as fabulous. Saturday was the rainiest day by a long shot, so it was actually very helpful that I had such lightweight attire on so that peeling it off in the early hours was much less of a chore. Avicci was absolutely mind-blowing as a headliner that night and the rain just added to the theatricality of the entire night – truly unforgettable.

Waterproof – Tescos F&F / Cropped Tee – Boohoo.com / Shorts – Boohoo.com / Knee High Socks – Primark / Wellies – George / Sunglasses – Primark

Well, hello there Holly!! As you can tell by our wellies, the mud had really taken over by this point, with mud in the tents, mud in the porter loos, mud in the mud – but this didn’t stop us from having an exciting last day! My outfit formula was pretty standard throughout, with shorts, knee highs and t shirts running through the duration; but that’s just how I felt most comfortable, and when you’ve got a good thing, you stick to it. Stand out acts for me on Sunday were Catfish And The Bottlemen, I’m such a huge fan and I watched them with all of my friends, it was a really fun moment that I won’t forget.

IMG_6256

I really had an unforgettable weekend; from the tent explosions on the last night, to simply moving and grooving in front of CocktailCocktail (the bar), there were highs and lows, as with any big experience, but every single second was memorable. It brought me closer to people and I’m so glad it did so. Having now been to a festival with a small group of 4 friends to this experience of 20+, whatever group you go with, you form a bond, and that bond feels bloody brilliant.

If anyone else went, what did you think? I’d love to know in the comments.

Kimonos.

Fashion

A summer staple for me is the humble flip flop! Completely kidding, I refuse to wear a flip flop unless I am under ten metres away from a pool. Obviously the title of this post is evidence that my true summer staple is the kimono. I personally am self conscious of my shoulders/arms and never really enjoy having them on show, so kimonos are a flattering, airy way to cover up without suffering from the heat of the sun; not that this is EVER a problem in the UK.

There are so many varieties, it is simply impossible to dislike all kimonos. (I often wish I had a friend called Kim who hated them, so I could say “KIM, OH NO.”, but that’s just me.) I have compiled as many styles as I could muster, so hopefully this will inspire you into picking up one of these beauty’s (or something similar) for the summer; they are honestly so useful.

Black / Crochet / Batwing

untitle_Fotor_Collage

New Look – £23.99

It is all about the crochet this summer, so I thought I would hop on that trend waggon in the form of this black kimono, which I see myself wearing way too often. It’s an extremely versatile piece that could literally be worn with anything; from trousers, to skirts and even dresses. The variation of close and loose knit means it’s both insulating to a cool breeze, and ventilating in hot weather; either way, it’s a wonderful thing. I can’t find it on the website unfortunately, but I only bought it a week ago, so I’m confident you could still find it in store if you wish – you’ve got to have faith.

Classic / Floral

IMG_1804_Fotor_Collage

Matalan – £14

I picked this kimono up for my holiday last summer, as a pool side sling-on, another useful property they possess. I absolutely love orange, and word on the street is that blood orange is the colour of this summer, which fills me with happiness and also makes feel slightly smug, as though I pre-anticipated this ‘colour trend’ a year early – go me. I’m really not a floral type of gal – the only floral patterns I ever tend to wear is of the monochrome variety, so I absolutely love this white floral pattern over the bright orange, the contrast is fabulous.

Tassels / Khaki

IMG_1818_Fotor_Collage

New Look – £17.99

I’m really pushing the trends here but, I’ve come this far, may as well carry it through. I am loving the tassels making their way onto our favourite shop shelves, and the fact they have found their way into everyday outfits, where they’d normally only be found in festival attire- my favourite type of fashion. A kimono is absolutely perfect for a festival, I am wearing at least two this year for T as they make the perfect outfit formula for fashion and comfort. The added detail of tassels just add that bit of interest, fun and dimension, and allow the rest of the outfit to remain chic and minimal.

Long / Geometric

IMG_1745_Fotor_Collage

Topshop – £38

Longline kimono’s are my most recent style discovery. I have personally fallen in love with this kimono from New Look, but when I went to purchase it, they had never sold it in store. When the words came out that shop asstistants mouth, it broke my little heart. I will be sure to keep you updated on the thrilling tale of “The Kimono That Got Away.”.

Longline are slightly harder to style as it is quite a daring length, I believe, and requires abit of thought and guts as for what to pair them with. But when it’s right, it’s so right. This Topshop kimono is a very big chunk of pattern, which in some respects is easier to style, as you just keep the rest of the outfit very simple. It’s a staple piece, and the pattern is to die for.

And there we have it, a guide to all things ‘kimono-like’ to wear this summer.  There’s always some funny out-takes when getting shots for posts like this, they are wasted on just me – I’ll insert them for your entertainment. Some actually show off the kimono’s nicely too, aswell as my lovely face… Enjoy!

In non-kimono related news, I’m thinking about starting a YouTube channel, thoughts?

Blanket Fashion.

Beauty, OOTD

Fashion is really weird. There are some things that come down the most famous designer’s catwalk, that make me think, really? But that’s fashion for you, a weird form of expression which makes it okay for people to sport things like shoulder pads, dungarees, crocs (I hope they were never cast as fashionable.) and so much more – in the name of fashion.

collage

OOTD – Cape – Boohoo.com / Cropped Tee – New Look / High Waisted Jeans – Topshop / Studded Slippers – Republic

I spontaneously bought this slightly ‘out there’ purchase, in the form of this frankly ‘big ass’ cape/shawl/thing, off of boohoo.com in the chaos of their amazing clearance sale for £10, and I for one am in love with it.

I’ve been a big fan of capes and similar things all Winter but never bought one, so in the end, why not buy one in spring? Yes this is often my logic, buy coats and warm things in Spring and Summer, because they’re a hell of a lot cheaper. (You may see a scarves and gloves haul next week. Jokes, obviously.) I am also a huge fan of the houndstooth pattern so this is a good staple to add to my wardrobe.

IMG_1483

Hello belly button.

It’s very long which is different for me, as I’m so short, long things tend to not work on me; but to be honest with you, yolo is written all over this purchase – I simply didn’t give a damn. Because it is such a big portion of pattern, it means you can be so minimal with the remainder of your outfit, you’d be surprised how easy it is to work outfits around.

It is honestly so comfortable and the quality is unbelievable for the price I paid. Whoever made it socially acceptable for people (eg. me) to walk around essentially wrapped in a blanket, AND it be seen as fashionable, is someone I’d like to thank for making my days a hell of a lot cozier.

selfie collage

And before you can say boohoo, I find myself in the bathroom taking selfies of varying levels of seriousness (evidently.). The top right makes me chuckle, but then I can only make myself laugh most days.

Daddy Chic.

Fashion, OOTD

This is an extremely spontaneous post about a revelation I had yesterday and had to share it with you. We’ve all looked in our mum’s wardrobe for any sort of vintage gem that could apply to this season, but have you ever thought of looking in your dad’s?

This oversized trend we have going is something that I apply to a large portion of my outfits as I just love how comfortable I feel when tops aren’t clinging to me in an unflattering manner. My dad is bigger than me (duh), so it makes sense that his clothes are also larger than mine. I’ve shopped for t-shirts and hoodies in the mens section countless times and I can’t believe I didn’t think of doing so at home.

dad jumper collage

Especially during this chilly season, a snuggly knit is essential, and by

searching closer to home (hilarious.) you don’t even have to leave your house to find one. This is a jumper I found in my dad’s wardrobe from Marks and Spencers, this grey marl is slap bang on trend and I didn’t have to spend a penny.

YES

By simply rolling up the sleeves (otherwise they dangle just above my knees) and putting on a necklace to make the top half more feminine, you’d never guess it was built for the male stature. I paired the oversized jumper with some simple black leggings, some chunky chelsea boots and a long pendant. I always see this as a fool proof outfit formula to look effortless yet fashionable and extremely comfortable.

So go and have a cheeky look what he has to offer, and try things on that you aren’t sure about, everything oversized looks so much more flattering in person than on the hanger. Good luck and happy rummaging.

Coats.

Fashion, OOTD

The raspy chill of winter is lurking, and it’s that time of the year when nipping out to the shop in a t-shirt and leggings is out of the question – time to bring out those coats! I am a sucker for coats as they complete an outfit and are one thing I am happy to spend a bit more money on, as they’re a winter essential! Here are five types of coats, perfect for these finger numbing months when that extra layer is a must.

1. Biker Jacket – Miss Selfridge

I love this style of coat, even though I understand it’s not for everyone. Some may think it is quite a masculine shape but that is why I enjoy mixing it with more feminine under garments (under the coat, not underwear, naughty.) to make the outfit more balanced. We all need that coat that just makes the world a cozier place, and that is exactly what this is for me. The fur collar and thick lining make for a warm hug, type of experience whenever I put it on. This oversized look is very on trend right now and a style I’m in love with.

2. Boyfriend Jacket / Blazer – New Look

Grey is the new black this season (Although I still love my black) so when this jacket came on sale I just had to snap it up. Quick side note, if you ever have spare money in the Summer time, there are always some amazing deals on coats which would be three times the price in the Winter. For example, this coat was originally £30, I got it for £12 in the Summer sale; if that’s not a bargain I don’t know what is! It’s brilliant quality and even if I’d bought this for its original price, I’d be extremely happy.

3. Leather Jacket – New Look Vintage

Everyone deserves a real leather jacket in their lives. This was my big christmas present around two years ago and I have never gotten so much use out of a present in my life. I am on the side of ‘real leather is best’ when it comes to this argument as it is SUCH a durable material; it can literally last a life time and actually look better with age. Mine is an interesting, almost suede texture, it isn’t shiny like many other leather jackets from renowned shops like Topshop etc. However, I love that mine is original in this sense, as many leather jackets look exactly the same as one and other, which can be very a bit boring. Had I bought it myself I would have probably bought it bigger (My oversized mind takes over), but I’m so glad it is fitting as it is honestly so flattering in arm and body length. Just perfect.

leather jacket collage

Leather Jacket – New Look Vintage / Bobble Hat – Superdry / Jumper – Primark / Jeans – Topshop / Converse – Ralph Lauren

4. Duster Coat – ASOS

Duster coats are the fresh new trend of this winter. They are bold and beautiful, but a daring style that can be difficult to pull off. I definitely wouldn’t recommend a duster coat if you’re just starting off a coat collection as they don’t go with all outfits due to differences in length. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something a bit different, the right outfit can look unbelievable. My friend received this for her birthday a week ago and I couldn’t not include it, it’s just too fabulous. The colour and style together look so elegant and regal, if you can’t tell, I love it.

duster coat collage

5. Peter Pan Collar Jacket – Miss Selfridge

This is a lovely, innocent style which is snug around the neck so great for warmth. It’s a coat which actually looks good zipped up, which can’t be said for many other styles (e.g biker jacket is a no go.). This Peter Pan coat is also from Miss Selfridge as my biker jacket is as my friend and I bought them together. They had the most amazing range out last Winter, and when they both went on sale during mid November, we couldn’t believe our luck. They have followed the same format this year as there is currently a ‘Winter Wowzer’ on their website and in stores. It’s definitely worth looking for a deal, you never know what you’ll find!

peter pan coat collage

I realise that none of these coats are waterproof or even have a hood, but they are all heart warminlgy cosy, and that is my top priority in the Winter time, despite how unpractical that can be!

Hope you enjoyed this small insight into all things warm!

Ed Sheeran.

Fashion, OOTD

Ed Sheeran is one of my music idol’s and I got to see him perform live at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle yesterday! It’s the third time seeing Ed live but it did not dull my excitement, there’s a reason I keep going to see him!

IMG_0270

OOTD : Top – Miss Selfridges / Shirt – Next / High waisted shorts – Boohoo.com / Flatform Shoes – Topshop

I was in Standing for the concert, which meant a lot of bodies and a lot of heat, which is why I braved Newcastle without a coat, and I’m so glad I did! The benefit of this outfit was that I could wear the shirt as a shirt when I was cold, then when I got hot and put it around my waist, it still looked like a complete outfit.

IMG_0289

Wristband from + Tour two years ago – Wristband from X Tour last night

Quick little side note, if you’re looking for some new artists to listen to, Ed’s support acts were both amazing. I’ll be checking them out and you should too! Jamie Lawson – A guitar playing singer much like Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard or Passenger style, lovely voice, lovely lad! Saint Raymond – A Band with a unique sound, if The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club and Twin Atlantic had a love child, it would be called Saint Raymond.

Now onto the man himself, Ed Sheeran. Oh, Ed Sheeran. I literally cannot think of a way to describe him to do him justice, but I realise this is what this post was for so I’ll try my best. I have previously seen him in City Hall, a much more intimate setting where he actually performed an entire song without a microphone, magical. At T in the Park music festival, in one of the scariest crowds ever but only Ed managed to reduce everyone to a state of peace. And now at an arena, so I’ve really seen him in every format; he’s smashed every single one. If you have never seen him live before, he performs with only his voice, his guitar and a loop pedal which replays beats and strumming patterns he creates while on stage. It is the most amazing experience watching such a talent build a song in front of your eyes. His 9 minute rendition of You Need Me, I Don’t Need You never fails to wow me, only a handful of artists can keep an audience interested in one song for that long; but Ed is one of them. He has a presence on stage which is nothing I’ve ever witnessed, although he has grown in confidence since the last time I saw him, he was still incredibly humble and timid at times, but EVERY person in the arena was fixated on him. He has such a lovely mood about him and the way he presents himself on stage, he managed to make a huge arena of 11,000 capacity feel intimate and personal; so personal he took a request from “the girl in the fourth row” in true Bruce Springsteen style and performed a spontaneous classic called Kiss Me as though he’s practised it for weeks. In my view, that is evidence of a true artist, and I love him so much for it.

IMG_3642

Taken from Ed’s official Instagram / Can’t you see me?! 😉

I can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my life (without being too dramatic!) and if you are a fan of Ed Sheeran (If you’re not a fan why are you reading this, hmm?) and haven’t seen him live, I would recommend it more than anything in the whole world as despite his talent in songwriting and singing (in the studio), I think his true talent is in live performances.
