3 Skincare Faves You Need In Your Life.

Beauty

There was a pretty damn wonderful offer on the Boots website the other week which easily reeled me in as the bargain hunter I am – thanks a lot Tim Wonnacott. 3 For 2 on all skincare really got me excited and you bet I spent well over an hour narrowing down my choices to a cost savvy three I am now extremely chuffed with. An eye cream to hopefully delay my wrinkly bags (is that a euphamisim??), a Body Shop tea tree facial wash dupe and a forgotten world class moisturiser.

Product preach: Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser.

Beauty

Remember me? If you’ve forgotten, my name is Jolie (just Jolie, what up.) and life has quite simply gotten on top of me as of late. I really do apologise for the inconsistent uploading that has been occurring, but I am going to get on top of that in the next few weeks and get at least a post a week up for you all. So are we good? Can I get on? Great, thanks lads.

We are getting back into the swing with my favourite skin care discovery of the recent present (..?). It is a moisturiser that will knock your little socks off , and if you’re not wearing socks, well it will give you’re ankles a swift kick. (Yes, it’s that good.) As the title points out, it is the wonderful Clinique Moisture Surge moisturiser!

I have grown up with Clinique products. Not using them myself obviously, (we weren’t made of money – jeepers) but as my mothers brand of choice, it holds a special place in my wee heart. There is a clean fresh smell to everything Clinique, which always makes me feel confident it is doing me good. This product is no exception, and the refreshing feel extends from the smell to the product itself – prepare to be smacked around the chops by moist-ness, in the best way possible.

This lovely, pastel pink tub of pure good-ness reads: “moisture surge – extended thirst relief”, I haven’t read something so true in a long time. It is quite literally like having a bucket of cold water poured on your face on a baking hot day – call it the most satisfying metaphorical ice bucket challenge (blast from the past eh?) ever. Despite it’s immense hydrating abilities, it isn’t very oily at all, so is definitely appropriate for most, if not all, skin types. As well as a moisturising wonder, I also found it to be a great base for makeup for when you frankly can’t be arsed with primer; it leaves your skin silky smooth.

It is £25, there’s no getting away from that. I got my adorable sample size for christmas in a wash bag so I cannot confess that I have spent that, but I can tell you now I would be willing to part with that dollar to keep this creamy god in my life. I bet you £25 you will not be disappointed!

I Had A LUSH Bath.

Beauty

Hello there chums! I do apologise for my blog break this week, with A level results and other big commitments shooting up left, right and centre – blogging has been pushed down my priorities. But no longer! I will be showing you a small extension to what I got for my birthday, as my wonderful brother got me the most wonderful LUSH product duo, which I will share with you today.

IMG_2028_Fotor

The first product he bought me was what LUSH are most well-known for, and rightfully so as they are rather marvellous, are the bath bombs. This is the Fizz Banger, the LUSH website describes it as:

“A Catherine wheel of a bath bomb. It changes colour as it fizzes, crackling with popping candy as it goes and releasing first a citrussy apple and then a cinnamon, apple pie like scent with a hint of ylang ylang. Petitgrain is used in aromatherapy to calm the breathing, slow the heartbeat and reduce feelings of anxiety. Ylang ylang produces a feeling of joy, and cinnamon leaf oil helps you let go.”

This deliciously citrus scented bomb is a real treat. The bomb fizzes into an exciting teal/green bath which is extremely fresh and clean feeling (kind of the point of a bath, hm?). A universally loveable smell, which also leaves skin feeling incredibly soft, like a baby’s bum.

The second product is definitely a favourite of mine. The LUSH face masks are something to check out if you haven’t already. They are 100% natural ingredients, you can’t really go wrong! This face mask is called CUPCAKE, the Lush websites describes it, saying:

“Rhassoul mud, which is highly absorbent, works with cocoa powder to draw out all the dirt and impurities and give a deep cleanse. Fresh mint stimulates and tones the skin, whilst linseed and cocoa butter soften and moisturise. Smooth a generous layer of this mask onto your face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes.”

I couldn’t speak more highly of this mask. When I used this mask for the first time, I had no real break-outs per say, but my skin wasn’t looking clear in complexion as it could. I used this mask and it just washed away any and all impurities my skin was showing – a true miracle worker.

I’ve also used it at a stage when I do have real break outs, and it really escalates the process and shortens their life span, which is definitely all you want at that point.

I would highly recommend both of these accessories to a truly successful bath time! Hope you enjoyed this post, what are your thoughts on these products? I’d love to know i the comments below.

3 Products That Saved My Skin.

Beauty

Trying to control problematic and spot prone skin is like climbing a ten foot wall with one arm; not impossible, but bloody hard. My skin went through a rollercoaster of states; occasionally clear, but more often than not taken over by pimples and painful spots. My problem area was my T-zone, but mainly my forehead. I have been on medication which does help the problem but your skin easily gets used to this medication and rebounds so it does not rid the problem completely. I have in turn had to search for other remedies and skin care that could help; and found three which saved my skin.IMG_0722

1) Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (£14) –

This product was honestly life changing in terms of my skin. My skin was in a pretty despicable state after Christmas and all the fatty food and infinite chocolate santa’s that come with it. I purchased this in desperation, helpless and in need of a cure; my skin felt immediately cleaner and clearer after the first use and gets better and better each time I use it. It made me realise how badly my makeup was removed before with my Simple cleanser, which barely removed anything. With this, it gets deep into the skin, removing makeup as well as impurities and anything clogging the pores. I have been on a mission to find a product to remove those blackheads around the sides of your nose for years; I used this ONCE and they were all gone!

It is fairly pricey, but if you also suffer from bad skin, you’ll know that it can really get you down. So I feel, if something makes you truly unhappy it’s worth investing in something to change that – in my case, it was this.

2) Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser (£4.99)  –

This face wash means business. It is extremely refreshing, so much so that your face literally tingles after using it. If you have extremely sensitive skin I can imagine this could be too harsh as sometimes even my skin feels slightly too raw if I use it too often. In this situation I use my very gentle Simple cleanser which does the bare minimum when my skin needs a rest. None the less, it shows that it works at it’s job of cleaning and drawing out impurities (what charcoal is known for doing) to a very high standard.

It truly is an unbelievable price tag for the standard and quality of product that you get. Having used it on a daily basis for around four months and not reaching half way down the bottle, it is also brilliant value for money.

3) The Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask (£10) –

This self-warming, deep cleansing, clay treatment is absolutely brilliant. Usually self warming face mask are extremely gimmicky and rarely work; however, this is hugely contradictory to this stigma as when rubbed on a wet face the product instantly warms the skin and me, being the huge child I am, finds this mind blowing every single time.

It is a lovely treat for my skin and it really feels like it when I apply it once a week. Also, because you only apply it once a week, this £10 bottle will last me a lifetime, which equals massive bonus. Although it is deep cleansing, it doesn’t feel harsh or irritant like I find with some face masks, just extremely clean and replenishing- perfect!

It’s worth noting after using these products for a substantial ammount of time in routine with each other, my skin is now clear most of the time, which is an absolute miracle. If you see similarity’s in your skin and my ‘skin story’, please give these products a try, I promise you won’t regret it.
