Product Preach – Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour.

Beauty

My Product Preach series has been my longest standing blog ‘format’ to date. Before my Blog-a-break, I used to bash one of these bad boys out once a week without fail! I would like to return to that, as these were such an easy, enjoyable format; which if I remember, you all used to enjoy too! Well, lets start this ball rolling again shall we? First, with a lip product which is my new ‘go-to’; and that really means something in my book, because I have a shed full (metaphorically) of lip sh**. I was so surprisingly blown away by none other than the Rimmel Stay Matte liquid lip colours.

What We Got For Our Birthdays. #GETTOKNOWUSWEEK

Lifestyle

Welcome back to #GETTOKNOWUSWEEK, I will be your host for today on Just Jolie, but remember to check out Just A Fashion Blogger ‘s internet condo where you will find more posts throughout this week!

You may be unaware that Holly and I share a very similar birthday period; my birthday being the 30th July while hers is the 31st. This is extremely exciting to us, probably too much so, but we also thought it was a perfect collaborative post – so here it is! This is what we each got for our birthdays!

IMG_2040 (1)

So first off, me and my wonderful presents. I was extremely lucky this year, especially in the makeup department. I’m sure my friend wouldn’t mind me saying that her Waitrose job, which also comes with a rather beautiful discount at John Lewis (high end central), treated me very well and I am so thankful!

As is common with many 17th birthday’s, the parental gift is the gift of driving lessons which are on the agenda very soon. I cannot wait to finally take the wheel. I was extremely gifted at go-karting in my day and I’d say it’s pretty much the same thing (sarcasm, guys, sarcasm.). My brother bought me some lush LUSH products, which I will be featuring in a separate post – they are the bomb… Literally. One was a bath bomb.

My friends were extremely kind to me, buying me a Nars lipstick, which blew my mind not only with the beautiful orange red colour (LANA), but also the truly fabulous magnetised lid which never fails to amaze me. They also got me the beautiful Nars blush (ORGASM), I would be mature enough to laugh at the name if it wasn’t such a well-known and respected shade. I absolutely adore the coral pink shimmer, it’s simply gorgeous. I also received the Benefit Roller Lash mascara, which is hands down the best mascara I’ve ever used. I personally prefer it to the They’re Real mascara and any other I’ve tried – perfection. To match this I also was given a cheeky Rimmel Rita Ora nail varnish in Peachella – cutest name ever? Surely.

I also received a Thorntons plaque with my name on, (which I personally just think are the best things ever.) as well as a Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 107, which if you watch Zoella, you’ll know is a holy grail lipstick of hers which I have lusted after forever. I am finally a proud owner of this rich plum, happy days.

Finally I got the Urban Decay Shadow Box, which is my new favourite thing. Prepare for a full review of this very soon as I have some things to preach, Naked is not the be all and end all my friends; it is just the beginning…

On that dramatic note, thank you to EVERYONE who bought me a present – I am really so grateful!

Birthday Presents

Lets see what Just A Fashion Blogger got for her 17th birthday, do bloggers get normal stuff for their birthdays? Yes, yes they do. So lets just skip to what I got instead of a weird intro.

So in the morning from my mum and dad I got an iPhone 6 Plus in sliver. I have only previously got hand me down phones and this phone is my first brand new phone, and it is AMAZING. I absolutely love it, I am literally never apart from it (not sure if thats a good thing) but the quality of everything is so much better in comparison to my iPhone 5, which was also smashed. Some people may not like the 6 Plus as they may think it is too big, and it is hard to hold in one hand. However I believe that because it is bigger it is a lot easier to just be on.

From my younger brother, I got a NARS lipstick. What a good present from a boy, who is also younger!!! The shade is called Barbara, what a cool name, which is a shade of nude, and it is such a lovely shade. From my sister who lives in Dubai, she ordered a Urban Decay palette straight to my door, which was the beautiful Third palette which is absolutely gorgeous!!! From my wider family I mainly got money for driving lessons which is so exciting!!! I have already had 4 lessons and I absolutely love driving.

My Uncle got me a TomTom satnav, which I believe will be very very useful in my car. Especially when you don’t really know where you’re going. Plus if you get lonely they talk to you. From my friends, I received a topshop voucher, and a present is still yet to come isn’t that exciting!! Jonny got me a hella exciting present which is tickets to see A$AP Rocky and Wiz Khalifa in October!!!! HOW COOL AND EXCITING, SO EXCITED. Can’t really explain my excitement.

Anyway that is what I got for my birthday, and I hope you enjoy reading it! I am a very lucky girl and I am very grateful for what I got and I couldn’t ask for anything better.

Thank you all for the presents.

I hope you enjoyed this festive post!

Face Of The Day. #2

Beauty

I have made a skin decision for the summer holidays, whereby I shall only be wearing foundation on the most special of occasions; such as weddings, parties, and if my skin explodes (spot problems). In light of this epiphany-like moment, I thought I would share my makeup look for a typical summers day, with a cheeky red lip thrown in there for good measure.

I normally stay away from red lipstick, simply because I eat too often, the reapplication is too much to handle. I just whip it out every now and then as a treat, I’m not too sure who that treat is aimed at, but there you have it.

Product Preach: Rimmel Foundation Wars.

Beauty

Rimmel are hands down my favourite drugstore brand for foundations, they have a foundation to suit every skin type, every finish and basically everything anyone would ever wish for in their choice of base. (buttery biscuit base < click and thank me later.)

If you want to purchase a foundation, but are wondering which is best for your skin type – LOOK NO FURTHER. I will be reviewing the three most popular foundations of Rimmel’s range, advising which one is the best for you!

Match Perfection VS. Wake Me Up VS. Lasting Finish

IMG_1674

Match Perfection –

Up first into the arena is Rimmel Match Perfection foundation, a family name in the make up world as a trusty, holy grail foundation, and rightfully so. It is the Switzerland of this battle in that it’s rather solid in all areas. It’s got good coverage, without looking unnatural; staying power is strong, but definitely requires powder to set it in place; and the finish is perfected, giving props to it’s title. This foundation is like a long term boyfriend – steady, reliable, but slightly boring at times because of the two previous adjectives.

Wake Me Up –

This was my first ever serious foundation after the phase I hope we all went through, when it was Dream Matte Mousse all the way. (I still own three unopened tubs of the stuff but just can’t bring myself to use them!) This foundation is just lovely. It is perfect on people who don’t suffer from spots, obviously you can use it if not, but I have always found that the very subtle glitter almost highlights spots which can be extremely unflattering. It truly does give the skin a lovely youthful glow, which even I, a 16 yr old going through exams, needs help with.

I would definitely not recommend this foundation to people who suffer from very oily skin, as the dewy finish it leaves mixed with oil is a recipe for disaster.

Lasting Finish –

This I must say is my current favourite. Lasting Finish is suiting my skin type beautifully at the moment as it is slowly warming up in the UK. With the sun, comes the oily faces (don’t lie girls.), and with oily faces, comes the sudden mission to keep face make up on your face. I have not trialled the product promise of 25 hour wear, because why on EARTH would I want my foundation on that long? However, I actually believe that it lives up to that statement, as I can apply it in the morning and by night-time (when my mascara is half way down my face as I undoubtedly rubbed my eyes forgetting it existed) my skin is still looking fresh – which is alien for me.

In conclusion, I would recommend:

Unproblematic skin / Dull skin that just needs a pick-me-up / Don’t need high coverage: Wake Me Up.

People who work long days / Festival Go-ers / Oily Skin : Lasting Finish.

Don’t know what your skin type is, don’t care about particularly dewy or matte finish, you just want some god damn foundation : Match Perfection.

In terms of colour, Rimmel’s colour range is the best of any drug-store brands in my opinion. As a pale skinned human (I’m talking reflective in sunlight.), Rimmel is one of the only places that accommodates, so thank you.

I hope this was helpful to some of you, have a fabulous weekend!
