RED ALERT.

Burgundy, maroon, scarlet, crimson; you see where this is heading. Everyone and anyone who knows the Autumn/Winter 2017 trends for this season is seeing a monumental RED ALERT. We aren’t simply talking a bold red accessory here and a sultry scarlet heel there, we’re seeing entire outfits confidently crafted from possibly the most daring colour on the fashion market – and I for one am absolutely loving it.

Colour blocking in itself is only a trend the most confident of fashionista’s tend to delve into, as a top-to-toe one colour outfit can be extremely tricky to pull off. Varying shades can make or break, and lack of varying textures can leave your look extremely one dimensional. However, in the Autumn/Winter 2017 shows, we saw the big names diving head first and pulling out some absolutely stunning looks which threw caution to the wind and saw them make a very solid statement – this year, it’s all about red, baby.

I must admit that I don’t think I will be following this trend any time soon, because as much as I love it, it’s quite an expensive trend to achieve as every aspect of your outfit has to coincide, not clash and create a complimentary silhouette. I definitely don’t have enough red in my wardrobe to achieve that, plus, I worry that if you’re not gracing a catwalk, (or you’re just a fashion queen) it could all just be a tad too much.

If you’re like me and you’re slightly too timid to jump straight into all red and you’d rather just dip your toes in (literally), I would highly recommend starting with the accessories. I have myself a lovely, simple red mini satchel from Primark which I LOVE pairing with a red lip and red nails. It makes the simplest outfits look incredibly chic. What I would truly adore is some sort of red boots, as on the feet I love being that little bit extra, and it would set off my already poppin’ red accessory trio.
